MEET THE FOUNDER

Dr. Alena Schuss, DMFT, LMFT, #153178


Dr. Alena Schuss is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Aera Mental Health. Originally from Austria, her background as a professional triathlete and collegiate athlete has shaped her deep, firsthand understanding of the pressure, discipline, and internal demands often carried by high performers.

She specializes in working with trauma, grief, addiction, eating disorders and performance-related challenges. Her work focuses on helping individuals, couples, families, first responders, veterans, and athletes process what they’ve been carrying and move toward meaningful, lasting change. Dr. Schuss is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

Dr. Schuss founded Aera Mental Health to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported because she believes that even those who carry the most responsibility deserve a place to slow down, process, and heal. Her approach is grounded in the belief that real transformation happens through trusted relationships, clarity, and intentional work.
